Meet Darren Turner.

I didn't grow up dreaming of a life in the mountains. I started skiing almost by accident on a dry slope in the UK — and ended up being a member of the UK national team. It was an unlikely beginning that quietly rearranged what I thought I wanted from a career.

What kept me was the coaching. The moment someone finally felt the thing I was trying to describe — a subtle shift of pressure, the timing of a pole plant, a quieter upper body — is a moment that doesn't get old. I have spent the last two decades chasing that moment, refining how I explain movement, and studying how people actually learn.

I was the brains behind and the instructor for Ski School App, a video-based teaching project that reached over 60 million views on YouTube and helped skiers around the world understand the basics more clearly.

Filmmaking came later, almost by accident. I bought a cinema camera to record my own clients. I quickly realised that visual storytelling was another form of teaching — and that the alpine industry desperately needed better of it. Today I work with resorts and brands who want to communicate more thoughtfully.

Education sits at the centre of everything I do. Whether I'm on snow with a private client, editing a promotional film for a resort, or writing an article, the question is always the same: does this help someone see the sport more clearly?
